This episode was recorded in front of a live audience at the Focus on the Family's 25th anniversary in two performances (July 26 & 27, 2002). The second recording also featured a half hour live question and answer segment, of which about seven minutes were used in 501: Inside the Studio. The live performance was more than 15 minutes longer than the show heard on the air and featured an additional Kids' Radio skit ("Sam Maritan, Private Eye" from 114: The Big Broadcast.)

Much of the music featured in this episode originally appeared in Video 8: Go West Young Man.

Contains a KIDS Radio broadcast. This is the only episode to feature a second performance of a Kids Radio sketch—Young Guns Bonanza from 141: Over the Airwaves.) Most of the original cast maintain their original roles, including Whit, Tom, Connie, and George Barclay.

Notes:
This episode was unique in its writing and recording. The show was planned as a two-part episode and remained that way until the Saturday before recording, when it was re-written into a three-parter. Since only one day was booked for recording and it takes a full day to record two episodes, the Odyssey team had to scramble to find a creative way to get all three parts recorded. The solution was to record the episode in two different studios at the same time. Some scenes were recorded in a smaller studio, directed by Paul McCusker, while most of the scenes (including all of the larger ones) were recorded in the main studio with Marshal Younger. This was an Odyssey first.
